CCTV & Access Control
The College of St Mary Magdalene is beautifully located in the heart of Cambridge on the banks of the River Cam. It has its origins in the year 1428 when King Henry VI approved the establishment of a hostel on the site for Benedictine monks. ClearView’s job was to incorporate a security system which would not keep the school safe but not compromise on the building’s aesthetics.
Many educational facilities require a security solution that is sympathetic to the building, whilst still providing a high level of security. St Mary Magdalene had a requirement for CCTV and access control that would meet this exacting criteria. They contacted ClearView who are one of the UK’s premier integrated security design and installation companies. After completing a detailed site survey ClearView presented their security report presenting their solution to the college.
The ClearView Solution
The solution provided was a digital IP system that could be added to the college’s existing network. It incorporated NVR Network Video Recorders and high performance PTZ – pan, tilt, zoom dome cameras. These cameras incorporate LED infra red illuminators to improve night time recording of images.
An encoder at each camera location converts the video images and telemetry controls needed to operate the cameras from analogue to digital enabling them to be incorporated into the college’s IP network. Custom made camera brackets were commissioned so that they were as aesthetically sympathetic to the building as possible.
