The role

Reporting into the Lead Security Engineer, this is a multi-skilled role that is responsible for install and reactive service support for a range of security equipment and systems.

  • Field Based (Essex, Kent, London, & Hertfordshire)
  • Head Office – Chelmsford, Essex
  • £ Salary – Competitive base salary, van and fuel card, plus overtime/benefits and commission(not targeted)

Essential criteria
  • Knowledge and proven experience of CCTV, intruder, and access control
  • Good knowledge of networking
  • Knowledge and proven experience in maintaining, installing and commissioning
  • Ability to provide detailed and accurate engineering reports.
  • Ability to identify and make recommendations for additions/replacements to improve customers’ systems
  • Provide accurate information to enable quotations to be prepared for the customer
Main duties - Engineering
  • Service, install and commission security systems
  • Carry out planned small works installation projects for commercial and domestic customers
  • Proactively solve problems with an analytical approach
  • Maintain a positive image of the Company through high standards of dress and customer communications
  • Ensure all documentation is completed, handed over and the acceptance certificate is signed
  • Update Service Co-ordinator and/or Project Manager with the call status and/or installation status daily
  • Ensure that any Company vehicle provided is maintained in legal and good working order
  • Any other duty as may be required in line with operational requirements
  • Ensure that the appropriate spares, consumables, and test equipment required to complete assigned tasks are available on the company vehicle provided for efficient service.
  • Test systems
  • Accurate and efficient reporting of activities completed at customers’ sites
  • To be an active member of the on-call team at all levels and support the other team members.
  • Report any site left non-operational following a site visit
  • Complete all paperwork/time sheets/email in a timely manner
Skills, knowledge and experience


  • Ability to install, commission and service core range of security systems including CCTV, Access Control and Intruder Alarms
  • Full driving licence
  • Strong IT skills
  • The ability to diagnose network related faults with software or hardware
  • Knowledge of networking including port forwarding
  • Setup and commission of intruder signalling equipment and site takeovers



  • Health & Safety – including; Safe working at Heights, City & Guilds Street works, IPAF – mobile elevated platforms, PASMA, IOSH or equivalent
  • Paxton Access control experience
  • Texecom and Galaxy Intruder alarm experience
