ClearView, in partnership with Oakpark Security, opened its doors and invited local organisations to hear presentations on risk and to view the latest security technology. The event included a networking session, presentations, advice from experts and an exhibition.
The aim of the event was to share our knowledge of security to help local organisations, including schools, businesses and local authorities protect their staff, premises and their assets.
Saving money through security convergence
Today’s technology allows for great convergence of different security systems working together, which also makes the management of all your security systems significantly easier.
The growth in Internet Protocol (IP) networks provides a powerful platform for transforming the management and integration of your security.
Using your IP network to integrate your security systems provides a host of advantages.
Lowers your costs: Harnessing your IT infrastructure for your new or existing security systems reduces the installation costs of cabling and containment.
Flexibility & scalability: Using your IP network means that many security products can be added and networked from virtually any location. This means the system can grow and be easily adapted in line with your needs without any expensive additional cabling or costly changes to your network.
Greater security and resilience: As well as improved user management, the network provides a robust managed and monitored security setup. The tighter software integration over IP between the systems provides more intelligence and resilience.
Managing risk within your organisation
Under the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974, within an organisation, there are a number of people who have an obligation to ensure the health and safety of workers and others. To ensure compliance there have been a number of significant penalties which are incorporated into the legislation.
As an employing organisation, your obligations include:
- Providing and maintaining a safe and healthy work environment
- Ensuring your staff are not exposed to risks to their health and safety
- Providing information, instruction, training and supervision to ensure health and safety
- Putting in place effective health and safety management practices which protect visitors to the workplace
“Without any understanding of risk management within an organisation and its infrastructure, security will fail at the first sign of trouble. No security plan or programme can be effective unless it is based on a clear understanding of the actual risks it is designed to control.” – Dr Peter Speight.
The presentation
Paul Main, Managing Director at ClearView Communications, outlined how utilising IP technology can help reduce costs and increase efficiency and resilience. Ed Smith, Risk & Resilience Manager at Oakpark Security, gave an introduction to managing risk.
The exhibition
The exhibition was a great success with a number of our partners and suppliers taking part, including, DVS, Jupiter2000, AdvanceIT group and Urmet. This was a great opportunity to let people see the latest security technology in practice, including:
- Our ANPR system
- The latest Hikvision CCTV
- Lone worker protection
- Intercom equipment
- Access control
