Construction Testing Solutions – Fire alarm installation and maintenance
Based in Leicester, Construction Testing Solutions Ltd provides laboratory and onsite testing services to the UK’s quarry products, construction, and civil engineering industries. With over 400 sites and laboratory technicians, they are fully equipped to test the mechanical, physical and chemical properties of soils, aggregates, concrete, bituminous materials, and other construction materials.
ClearView has provided emergency lighting, fire extinguisher and fire alarm maintenance for Construction Testing Solutions since 2019 and maintained the site’s security systems, including CCTV, intruder alarm, keyholding, and remote CCTV monitoring.
Requirements
CTS approached ClearView with the requirements to expand their existing fire alarm system into a new building on site. The additional work would include installing fire alarm devices such as smoke detectors, heat detectors, manual call points (MCP) and sounders.
Solution
With the existing conventional fire alarm system utilising Apollo Series 65 as the current protocol, this was replicated for the fire alarm system expansion. Clearview designed the fire alarm system to the relevant BS5839-1 to ensure a comprehensive design, installation, maintenance and commissioning of the fire alarm detection. CTS fire alarm systems fall into category L3, and this is because there are detectors installed on all escape routes and high hazardous areas.
