City University of London – Fire Stopping Remedials
ClearView has completed the fire stopping remedial work throughout the college building at the City University of London. Founded in 1894, the City University of London is a public research university in London and a member institution of the federal University of London.
What were the main requirements?
The university required an accredited and reputable company to complete the passive fire protection work. After a successful tender process, ClearView was awarded the remedial fire stopping contract. The scope of work included the fire stopping remedials highlighted in the fire risk assessment and fire stopping report, all of which had to be conducted within a live working environment.
ClearView Solution:
Working within a live university environment, it was of paramount importance that we ensure the safety of all students and people within the university by practising robust health and safety procedures. A risk assessment and method statement was created and incorporated into a Construction Phase Plan to manage the health and safety on site. There were several essential H&S requirements, such as pre-planning the working areas with the estate manager and ensuring these areas were sectioned off from the staff and students. ClearView are certified to ISO45001, showcasing our ongoing commitment to the highest occupational health and safety standards.
We have installed QuelFire products, including HP mastic, acrylic mastic, fire batt, collars, and pipe wrap within the college building’s risers and general areas such as corridors, classrooms, and lecture theatres.
Our fire stopping engineers are qualified to a minimum of NVQ Level 2 PFP, and all passive fire protection works are certified by the International Fire Consultants. For any passive fire protection-related enquiries, please get in touch with our specialists here.
