Jardine Motors Group – Fire Door Installation & Remediation
In this article
Introduction:
Representing 16 leading car brands across 56 locations in the UK, Jardine Motors’ portfolio contains a range of luxury brands with dealerships located all over the country.
ClearView has provided fire-stopping works for several Jardine Motors sites over the last year and has also carried out fire door installation and remedial works at the Sevenoaks Aston Martin and McLaren service centre as per this case study example.
Requirements:
The project scope was to supply and install new FD30 and FD60 fire door sets with fire-rated visual panels and complete remedial work on the existing fire doors. Several door frames also required fire stopping around the edges to provide adequate fire compartmentation. In addition, the installation work was necessary to achieve compliance with their internal fire risk assessment.
The passive fire protection works were conducted outside of regular working hours to lessen the impact on sites operations and business as usual activities.
ClearView solution:
Fire door installation works:
We supplied new FD30 fire doors with visual panels and installed them throughout the site. As per the clients’ request, the replacement doors were required to match the existing fire doors in style and aesthetics but more importantly to comply with the internal fire risk assessment. Moreover, we carried out extensive fire door repairs on the fire doors that could be made compliant through remediation work.
Our certified fire-stopping installers were also required to reinstate the compartmentation around the fire door frames using Quelfire mastic.
Repairs and remedial works:
Several fire door closures, intumescent strips, fire door ironmongery, and fire door drop-down seals were repaired or replaced. The remediation provided a cost-effective alternative to fire door replacement, which also prolongs the life cycle of fire doors and is better for the environment.
Quality assurance:
We register each fire door and fire stopping requirement on our state-of-the-art BORIS software and photograph the area before work commences; this provides a tangible record. The progress is evident when the work is completed due to the before and after pictures.
Post work completion, all elements of the fire door installation and the fire-stopping were inspected to benchmarked quality standards. All individual fire stopping installation were logged into our BORIS CRM software with a photograph taken of the installation, including the work location, the certificate number. The certificates of conformity for the fire doors were uploaded so that Jardine Motors can access them at any time.
All Passive Fire Protection installation works were carried out by our fully trained passive fire protection NVQ Level 2 engineers. Supervision was provided by one of our SSSTS (qualified site supervisors). We can deploy one of our sites SMSTS (site manager), or several site supervisors for larger installations.
