Sutton Court Road – Passive Fire Protection
ClearView has been appointed the passive fire protection contractor for Watkin Jones Group at their new Build to Rent Accommodation development on Sutton Court Road, South London. Watkin Jones Group, established in 1971, is one of the UK’s leading development and construction companies. ClearView is certified for passive fire protection works by the International Fire Consultants and has vast expertise in managing large-scale and smaller passive fire protection projects, including fire doors and fire stopping.
Requirements:
The project consists of 165 apartments over 22 storeys, and the contract requires all the Fire Stopping installation works throughout the whole site. Installing passive fire protection to the cavity barriers, apartment penetrations, risers, and lift shafts.
ClearView solution:
ClearView has commenced the work for Sutton Court Road and has almost concluded the service penetration works within the basement, installing AIM products to the head of the wall to complete fire compartmentation. Our Passive Fire Protection engineers are currently completing the Fire Stopping works to the Cavity Wall barriers, using Firetherm, cavity wall barrier detail, and finishing the Fire Compartmentation to the void between the floor and the outer wall.
Moving up the building, Fire Stopping to the Risers are due to commence, using Quelfire Fire Batt and Fire Protection Compound, installed within the concrete slab to complete the compartmentation. Apartments and corridors will use Quelfire Intumescent Acrylic Sealant, Intumescent HPE Sealant and Fire Batt for cable and pipe penetrations.
Quality assurance:
All passive fire protection installations are required to meet manufacturers’ test details requirements.
As part of our quality process, we log each fire-stopping requirement on our state-of-the-art Boris software and photograph the area before work commences. This is to ensure the client understands the current state of the non-conformity of the fire safety barrier. All Passive Fire Protection installation works are carried out by our fully trained NVQ Level 2 engineers. Supervision is provided by a minimum of an SSSTS (qualified supervisor) or, on larger sites SMSTS (site manager).
