How Marine Cameras Work
Our marine cameras are designed to withstand the harsh marine environment, including high winds, rain, and saltwater exposure. Marine CCTV camera systems typically consist of cameras that are mounted on the vessel, connected to a central recording and monitoring system. These cameras then capture video footage that can be transmitted in real-time to a remote monitoring location or stored for later review. See our data sheet below.
All marine surveillance units include:
- Integral heaters and thermostats
- Separate sun shields to ensure the camera is kept cool
Marine cameras are available with BNC video, IP or Ethernet over Power (EoP) output with options for wall, corner and pole mounting and can be fully integrated with Video Analytics systems.
The Benefits of a Marine CCTV Camera System
Our marine CCTV products offer improved safety, enhanced security, remote monitoring, and increased operational efficiency. With marine CCTV camera systems, you can monitor activities on board your vessel in real-time, deter potential threats, and respond to incidents quickly and effectively.
External marine security cameras can be provided meeting:
- IP66 rating – protection against high pressure water jets from any direction
- IP67 – protection against temporary immersion
- IP68 rating – protection against long period water immersion
The Types of Cameras Suitable for Marine Environments
Marine-specific cameras are designed to withstand harsh weather conditions and the corrosive effects of saltwater. Some common types of marine cameras include infrared cameras, pan-tilt-zoom cameras, and dome cameras. We would only recommend and provide a camera solution that is rated for use in marine environments and has the features you need, such as weather resistance, image quality, and ease of installation.
Two options of marine camera casing are available:
- Aluminium housing extrusion – pre-treated with extremely durable marine weatherproof epoxy coating that also prevents UV radiation damage
- AISI316L extra low-carbon grade stainless steel housing – specifically designed for marine high corrosion resistance.
The Range Capability of a Marine CCTV Camera System?
The range of a marine CCTV camera system will vary depending on the type of camera and the quality of the transmission equipment. Some systems can transmit video footage up to several miles, while others are limited to a few hundred feet. The range of a marine CCTV can also be affected by factors such as the number of cameras, the environment, and the type of transmission equipment used. We will conduct a full assessment of your unique requirements and design, install, and commission a bespoke marine solution.
